Rhymesayers Entertainment is the musical home to some of the finest hip hop artists to come out of the Midwest since Prince. OK, maybe Prince is more R&B than hip hop, but experts would say he comes dangerously close to rapping on more than one track. Dangerously close.
After seeing more than a handful of artists off the record label's roster take off, it was time to upgrade the website. Artists like Atmosphere, Brother Ali and POS command attention at some of the most prestigious venues in the world and rhymesayers.com needed to reflect the caliber of talent they represented. It was time to scream from the rooftop, "Hey world, we're kind of a big deal!"
The site's home page features a breadth of activity from across the Rhymesayers family. A rotating billboard gives prominence to featured happenings while the activity stream aggregates Rhymesayers-relevant social media posts from around the internets. With one click visitors can get a current events schedule, listen to Rhymesayers Radio podcasts or add their favorite content to an RSS feed.
A WordPress platform in disguise, the site is built to be easily and frequently updated. Each artist profile page includes content blocks for news from the Rhymesayers blog, videos, tour dates, latest release info and a biography. We even integrated Twitter so the artist's feed could be pulled into the page. Better still, everything is super sharable.
Arguably the most important feature, the music is accessible from anywhere on the site. Launch it from the home page and get a hand selected Rhymesayers playlist. Launch it from an artist's page and listen to their latest release from the first to the last track. If listeners discover a track they simply can't do without, they can access a purchase page directly from the player.
The music doesn't stop once a user leaves the site. Just pop it out to it's own browser and continuing enjoying the sweet jams as you continue your day's online adventure.
